How old are you?

23 years old

Where were you born/where did you grow up?

I was born in New York, but I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale FL

How did you get introduced to CrossFit? What drives your passion for the sport?

I first found crossfit when my ex-boyfriend started putting me through crossfit style workouts, we worked out like this outside of a crossfit gym for several months. When I first went to a box I fell in love, I loved the community, I loved the atmosphere, and I loved being able to push myself again. After being a competitive swimmer in high school and riding horses my whole life having the ability to push myself again and compete to get better every day was exhilarating.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given?

The best advice I have ever been given is to believe in myself. So many times throughout my life I have felt like I was not good enough to go all the way with something. Or that no matter how hard I tried it wouldn’t be enough. Crossfit as a whole can be overwhelming with all the different movements that athletes are expected to perform and perform well. With all the pressure, I forgot to believe in me, but once I heard this advice and truly accepted it everything changed and my performance reached a new high.

In your experiences what have you learned that has made the biggest positive change in your life? What are the keys to success and the struggles you have encountered?

Throughout my Crossfit journey, I have learned that all good things come to those who work hard and are patient throughout the process. It is very easy to get caught up with your ego in this sport and try to perform skills before your body is ready while risking injury just to prove a point or compete with your fellow crossfitter. This happened to me in the beginning of my crossfit career.

What advice do you want to give others who want to make changes in their life and fitness journey?

If I could give anyone advice to help them grow in life and throughout their fitness journey I would simply say to never give up. I cannot tell you how many times a movement frustrated me or a workout had me beat but I kept going and now I can perform every skill. I never thought when I started in this sport that I would be competing against some of the best athletes I’ve ever seen. The only time you truly fail is when you give up, as long as you keep going you win.

Who inspires you most and why?

To answer this question I would have to say my dad. For my entire life I have watched my dad sacrifice his time at home with family to work full time in New York City while my mom and I lived here in Florida. However, despite the distance my dad has always been to every one of my important events and has been there for both my mother and I every step of the way. Both professionally and in everyday life my dad is a role model to me. He has always maintained a healthy and active lifestyle despite his busy schedule and he has supported and encouraged me in everything I do.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years within the sport of CrossFit

In the next 5 years I see myself competing as an individual in the Crossfit Games. This sport is so important to me and I want to see exactly how far I can go to be the best possible version of myself.

What are your favorite things to do outside of the gym?

Outside of the gym I would say some of my favorite things include spending time with my dog Ava and spending time with friends and family. I love to do anything outdoors, especially if it's by the ocean.

How does being a CrossFit Athlete impact the other aspects of your life?

I think that being a crossfit athlete has humbled me in so many other aspects of my life. After pushing my body to the limit in many crossfit workouts and realizing there is still room for improvement I have learned to never take anything for granted and to be grateful for everything I have accomplished. Also, Crossfit has taught me to be more understanding of the struggles other people go through on a daily basis simply by forcing me to face my own battles inside and outside of the gym.

How does nutrition and supplementation fuel your performance?

I pride myself in taking good care of my body. I feel that fueling your body with the appropriate nutrition and supplements allows myself to perform at my absolute peak. All of my hard work in the gym on a daily basis would be worthless if I was not working just as hard in the kitchen to maintain my physical improvements.

What is something that people would be surprised to learn about you?

I think that people would be surprised to learn that sometimes I am insecure about how I look. Being a crossfit athlete comes with muscles and sometimes, as a girl, those are not always praised. Before starting crossfit I was much smaller and I didn’t know how to feel about this new body I got from working out so much. However, over time I have started to love my body not for what it looks like but instead, for what it does. I can now do so much more than I ever thought I could when I started with this sport. Ring muscle ups were once a dream and now they are a reality, handstand push-ups, pull-ups, snatches… the list goes on and on but none of those movements would be possible without the beautiful muscles I have worked hard to achieve.

What sets you apart from everyone else?

Work Ethic. I believe that my work ethic and passion for the sport sets me apart from those around me. I came into crossfit already being an athlete. However, I will not rest on the fact I can move quicker than most of the people next to me. I am determined to put in the time and effort necessary to work on my weaknesses to reach the pinnacle of my fitness career. “Talent doesn’t work unless you do.” I am a firm believer in that quote and I strive for hard work everyday I step into the gym.
