How old are you? 

25 years old 

Where were you born/where did you grow up?

I was born in the south of Norway, and moved to Bergen 3 years ago.

How did you get introduced to CrossFit? What drives your passion for the sport?

I first heard about CrossFit from someone I met on a vacation, but didn’t really understand what it was. I searched around and found a box nearby, and started right away. I immediately found out that this was the sport for me. I fell in love right away and have never regretted it!

The thing I love the most about CrossFit is the diversity. Training varies every day, and you never do the same thing. I get easily bored, but not with CrossFit! There’s always new things to learn and weaknesses to work on.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given?  

I’ve been given a lot of great advice, but the thing I try to remember every day is to never fail to try. If you don’t try, you’ll never succeed. So even if you don’t think you can do it, you should always give it a try, and no matter the result you have learned from it, and you’ll be a step closer to achieving that goal.

In your experiences what have you learned that has made the biggest positive change in your life? What are the keys to success and the struggles you have encountered?

I’ve learned that you can achieve whatever you want as long as you’re willing to give it all you’ve got. Dare to dream big, even if it feels unrealistic. It’s what you do that matters, not how you look, where you’re from or how you’re built.

What advice do you want to give others who want to make changes in their life and fitness journey? What are the keys to success and the struggles you have encountered. 

Believe in yourself. In my opinion this is probably the most important key to success, and I’m still working on it every day. Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, your right. In competiton, your mental game is often probably just as important as your physical ability, which I’ve learned the hard way, and where I still have a long way to go. I don’t have any prior competition experience before CrossFit, and the importance of this has been overlooked for a long time for me. But if you learn to be confident and believe in yourself and trust the work you’ve put in, I think you can go a long way. Find the right way for you and trust in it.

Who inspires you most and why?

I can’t name one specific person, but people who truly, from the bottom of their heart, want others to do great. Even if that means that they get beaten. That type of person inspire me every day, and I try to keep improving here and be more like them. Jealousy is a horrible thing, and the root of a lot of the bad things that’s happening in this world.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years within the sport of CrossFit

Still loving the sport and having fun with it every day, wherever that takes me! That’s the most important thing for me. The day I stop enjoying it I will probably do something else (but I can’t picture that ever happening).

What are your favorite things to do outside of the gym?

With a hectic everyday-life, I love to just relax with my boyfriend and be around friends in my spare time, without having to do anything special in particular. Other than that I love travelling and seeing new places, adventuring and to try new things that I don’t normally do.

How does being a CrossFit Athlete impact the other aspects of your life?

CrossFit has taught me to be more humble, and that hard work really does pay off. Whatever it is you’re doing you have to start from scratch, and we’ve all been there. Leave your ego, it’s not going to do anything good for you.

How does nutrition and supplementation fuel your performance?

I think it’s important to fuel your body with mainly natural and clean food, and give it the right nutrients in order to be able to perform your best in general. I feel better when I eat better, and when I feel better I perform better. But I am a strong believer in chocolate and treating yourself! I don’t think making specific foods “forbidden” is the way to go, as long as you enjoy your lifestyle and want to feel good you will make the right food-choices for yourself, with some chocolate on the side every now and then of course 😊.

What is something that people would be surprised to learn about you?

Maybe that I’m pretty lazy! If I could drive wherever I was going I probably would, even if it’s a 5 min walk. But I can’t have too many hours on the couch, that makes me extremely restless.

What sets you apart from everyone else?

Ahh this one is really difficult. But maybe the fact that I don’t give up if I set my mind to something. I’ve experienced a lot of failure and not reaching my goals, but I keep working towards them instead of just settling for something halfway there. I truly believe that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. If you don’t succeed, at least you learned something and have more experience on your next attempt.
